Grace is done and we can call her short and sweet. Short in two ways, it took no time to make and it's SHORT! I decided not to lengthen it because I didn't think I had enough yarn, and I think it looks fine short. Cute with low rise jeans and such. I will wear a shirt underneath, even though it's soft and lush kid mohair, it's still mohair and I don't want that next to my skin. Another reason to wear a shirt underneath, we can use the Wendy-ism here, there's a bit too much front porch showing for my puritanical ways. (Quit laughing--I can still hear you).
Project Specs:
Pattern: Knitty.com "Grace"
Yarn: I can't recall too much, it was a gift. It was called Bunji Down (or something like that) and is kid mohair from Art Fibers, 3 skeins, in gray.

Hey Silvia -- great front porch! ;-)
Grace looks wunnerful. I'm thinking about making it in non-mohair.

We don't have a front porch here, but I will still wear a shirt underneath my grace (which is currently blocking) if I can ever get the dang puzzle pieces to fit together! This is what I get for not getting gauge and attempting to do MATH. Yours looks wonderful!!!

Risque indeed! Is that a hickey on your left bosom Sil? You look fabulous and the sweater's okay too!

Egad, she's finished TWO Fabulous sweaters! Now of course the front porch puns....who can resist? Do like we do down South, darlin'....serve gin gimlets on your front porch and invite the neighbors over to gossip...
*hee*

You've been mighty busy while I've been away. Your FO's look fabulous, especially the Onde. Your haul from the MSWF looks pretty scrumptous too.

Good heavens...WHEN did you knit that one? You are one fast chick.
What non-mohair yarn might that pattern work in? Its tres chic, but as you know I've sworn off mohair.
And I was indeed laughing. Sorry. I'm done.

Thanks for the props, and no that's not a hickey on my boobie Laura...
Claudia - I think your Tess ribbon would be nice in this, good drape and a little body. Plus that fiery colorway is gorgeous.
This knits up rather quickly, NO sleeves and I used a size 7 (that's a 9 to a regular person) needle, which after Onde is huge. Also, Onde was sitting around for about a week waiting for closure--sewing in I mean...

Wow! You look like a pinup in that cute mohair top. I really like it short; it works with the sleeves and yarn. Looks gorgeous, Silvia!

Wow, that WAS fast! It's so sweet -- or sexy, as is, with the porch open to the wind.

Whoops! You could hear me laughing? Okay I agree with you the porch swing is swinging a bit low. But the yarn and color fits the pattern exactly. Also (agree too), mohair no matter how it feels on the fingers it's an itch against the flesh. Definitely something should come between you and the top.

How lovely! And very sexy kittenish. If it wasn't for the mohair and all that potential itchiness, I'd be tempted to tell you to put aside your puritanical feelings :-)

that is quite the display of the boobal area. my my. ;) i expected nothing less, bien sur. someday i'll make a very different completely puritanical grace with no mohair, no belly or boobal showing, and longer sleeves for my fat place where normal people have biceps. really at that point, i don't think i'll even be able to call it grace anymore, will i?

woohoo! I can't wait to make one for myself!

Silvia, if my husband saw me in that sweater, he'd remove the ceiling on my yarn budget! I love that shade of gray with your coloring. Did you alter the pattern or knit it as writ? The burning question, though, is what kind of foundation are you wearing? Wowza!
Posted by: Sylvia | May 13, 2004 at 07:23 PM
Hee! Sylvia, that's just a plain old bra, so just buy any old sale bra from Macy's and lift the ceiling on the yarn budget. I knit the pattern as written, no changes at all...

Ooooooooo, I like that on ya! Short and sweet with a bit of sass.

Wow, Silvia, I am digging your Grace, even as I feel Mariko's pain! It's on my list and I am considering knitting the top panels in a vareigated mohair while the rest is one coordinating color. But do you think that might look weird at the shoulders? Anyhoo, yours ( & your porch!) is fab~

Woohoo - very cute! Kinda reminds me of a ribbed top in one of the Rebecca mags - will have to re-think that one. :)
