I'm back home safe and sound. What was waiting for me, a pile of bills? Of course. What else? Gifties!!! The crazy sista Yent found the perfect pattern for me and my sis, circa 1973 (based on fringe and helmet 'o hair in the pix). Thanks for the ideas, and more importantly your incredible blog--really it's in Yidlish. If that wasn't enough Kerrie sent me some fabulous wares! Gorgeous Kaffe Fasset material, knitting mags and YARN! Oh yeah, I got Halloween colored Rowan! It's begging to be a hat, no really, I hear things...The next time someone tries to kill me with their SUV, I'll take a deep breath, flip em the bird and remember how nice the rest of us are! Thanks again chicas!
I'm also still working on the Phildar turtleneck. I've done the back, and finished the ribbing on the front. I'm using a tubular cast on for double rib, and have really liked the result. It works well with the crimped yarn and lycra content of Star. I am finding myself constantly referring to my Montse Stanley Knitter's Handbook. Great information, though I find the sections organized rather oddly for my wonky mind. Check it out if you've not got it!
We all love presents, and this is quite a haul! | <>>Back of Phildar turtleneck--knit in Classic Elite Star. | <>>
yay - presents are always fun! especially when you return from vacation to find a pile of them.

Pressie-loving *so* runs in the family. What a lucky mail day you had. Maybe *my* Yent-package will come today.....
I really liked the tubular cast-on for the stretchy Phildar Falaise...that was in 1/1 rib and looked FABULOUS.

Oooh, love packages and pressies (in our family it's "prizies")! Very fun stuff. Your turtleneck sweater looks fabuloso. I found a pattern out of an old Vogue Knitting that I think I'll use for mine. It has to be striped, since I don't have enough of one color, and two of the colors don't even go together, but oh well, it's all about attitude, isn't it?
So when do you take off on your NEXT big excursion?
